今年的世界卫生日在全世界人民极其困难的时候到来。

World Health Day this year comes at a very difficult time for all of us.

我今天致辞的对象是我们的卫生工作者，他们是护士、助产士、技术人员、医务助理、药剂师、医生、司机、清洁工、行政人员，还有其他。他们为了我们的生命不分昼夜地工作。

My message today is to our health care workers -- the nurses, midwives, techni-cians, paramedics, pharmacists, doctors, drivers, cleaners, administrators and many others -- who work, day and night to keep us safe.

今天，我们比以往任何时候都对卫生工作者抱有更深刻的感激之情。你们夜以继日地工作，不顾个人安危，抗击大流行病的肆虐。

Today, we are more deeply grateful than ever to all of you, as you work, round the clock, putting yourselves at risk, to fight the ravages of this pandemic.

2020年是国际护士和助产士年，在此我对她们的专业知识和坚定承诺表示赞扬。

2020 is the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, and I want to rec-ognize their specific expertise and commitment. 

对于护士、助产士的关爱和专业精神，我们都曾有过表达感激的理由。我自己也不例外。

We have all had reason to give thanks for the care and professionalism of nurses and midwives. I know I do. 

护士承担着部分最重要的医护工作。她们长时间辛勤付出，并承担着这种创伤性工作带来的受伤、感染和精神压力的风险。在人们生命的最后一刻，给人安慰的往往就是护士。

Nurses shoulder some of the biggest healthcare burdens.  They perform difficult work and endure long hours, while risking injury, infection and the mental health burden that accompanies such traumatic work.  They often provide com-fort at the end of life.

助产士在新生命降临的时刻给人安慰。在大流行病期间，她们确保新生儿安全降生的工作挑战性更大。

Midwives provide comfort at the beginning of life. During a pandemic, their work is even more challenging, as you bring our newborn safely into this world.

我对全世界的护士和助产士说——感谢你们的付出。

To the nurses and midwives of the world: thank you for your work. 

我对全体医护人员说——在这个充满创伤的时代，我们与你们站在一起，我们依靠你们。

In these traumatic times, I say to all healthcare workers: we stand with you and we count on you.  

你们让我们骄傲。你们鼓舞我们。我们感谢你们。

You make us proud; you inspire us. We are indebted to you.  

感谢你们每天的付出——世界因为你们而不同。

Thank you for the difference you are making, every day and everywhere.
